Former Pacifica City Council Member Mike O’Neill wrote an op-ed for the San Mateo Daily Journal, endorsing the extraordinary measures being taken in California school districts to accommodate the affordability crisis for teachers, notably in the San Francisco Bay Area.

George passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta on January 21, 2021, surrounded by family including the true love of his life, Maude Elizabeth Wood (“Betty”) Heery, to whom he was married for more than 70 years. Jefferson Union High School District made history on February 5, 2020 with the groundbreaking for a 4-story development featuring 122 apartments to be offered at below market rents to faculty and staff. The school district is the first in the nation to use bond financing as a solution to the challenges the Jefferson Union High School District has faced in recruiting and retaining faculty and staff, due to the high costs of housing in the region.

Brookwood is assisting the Pacifica school district with planning and development of a workforce housing project.
